Well I wrote this blog once already and for some reason it was erased so here goes again. Up and out by 10 this am after our fun at the pub last night. Navigating a bit better now but still get off the beaten trail every now and then. I think it is teaching Rob a lesson in patience and I am impressed he is even able to keep calm and laugh about it well most of the time....Heading out of Limerick we saw a golf course it was crazy, really weird the hills are in great numbers you can't even see the flag to the hole due to the hills, will try to post pic but was taking pic while driving. On the way to the Cliffs we stumbled upon a holy well St Brigid's Well, one of the most holy wells in Ireland. St Brigid is one of the most beloved of the holy saints. A local lady from the area told us many people come to pray or make a wish and as the story goes some have gone in unable to walk and walk out. It was a pretty erie place as you walk into an opening in the earth you see many pictures, hand written letters, personal belongings, baby shoes, baby bottles, rosaries, death announcements etc lining the walls and the ceilings and at the end of the walk was a running well with daylight shining through a hole in the earth. In front of the well was a statue of St Brigid and on top and behind an old cemetery. After this visit we continued on our way to the Cliffs. What a magnificent site. Josh and Heather told us of the beauty but until you see it you could not comprehend. I do think it must be one of the natural wonders of the world. I posted some pics for you to see and you can decide. After several hours here we were on the road again to Galloway. We took a scenic costal drive and again narrow roads lined with rock fences as well as the rock fences in the fields. We drove through the Burren another natural geological phenomenon. This region is encircled by large limestone mountains that within contain ancient ruins and burial chambers. This region is desolate as the rock mountains contain no vegetation and have a light grey appearance. We saw a few more castles on the way and made our way to Galloway. Unfortunately the shops were closed so we settled for a delicious dinner in Barna our meal was slow braised beef, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted tomatoes and portobello mushrooms yummy. Back to limerick at 10 pm and amazed it is still light out, need to get organized as we are on the move again tomorrow heading for Dublin until the next post Cyndisue xo
The scenery is amazing! I love the lilac colored building! :) Maybe I'll paint my house that color! haha!
